Sheep Drift ๐Ÿ‘

A counting sheep game for winding down: a quiet night meadow where fluffy sheep drift by, very slowly, one at a time. Tap a sheep and it hops gently over the fence and snuggles into a little bed. No score, no rush, and after twelve sheep the night fades out ๐ŸŒ™

How to play

  1. Watch a sleepy sheep drift across the meadow.
  2. Tap it (or press Space) to help it hop the fence into bed.
  3. Missed one? No problem. Twelve sheep and the night ends ๐ŸŒ™

Why we made it this way

Most games are built to keep you playing; Sheep Drift is built to end. After 12 tucked-in sheep the screen dims for 7 seconds to a big moon and 'Phone down, pillow up?'. Even if you ignore every sheep, the round stops after 16, so it never runs past about 3 minutes.

Everything is slow and dim on purpose. Only one sheep walks at a time, the next appears 1.2 s after the last, and the only sounds are low, soft tones. There's no score and no stars; a sheep you miss just turns around and wanders off. The night sky is your mood's colours mixed toward deep blue, so it always stays dark.

Tap, click or press Space, and the tap target is big for sleepy fingers. The evidence on counting sheep is mixed, so think of this as a short wind-down for adults or a calm bedtime routine for kids, not a sleep fix.

Good for these moods

  • ๐Ÿ˜ด Tired: Slow, dim and quiet on purpose: very little to think about and nothing to win. It winds down instead of winding up, and ends by suggesting you rest.

Questions people ask

Does counting sheep actually work?

The evidence is mixed. Sheep Drift is meant as a short, quiet wind-down that ends by suggesting you put your phone away.

Are there games to help you fall asleep?

No game can make you sleep, but a slow, dim, short one is a better fit before bed than a fast one. Sheep Drift is free, takes about 2 minutes and needs no download.

Can kids play it at bedtime?

Yes. It's dark, quiet and has nothing to win or lose, so it suits a short bedtime wind-down with a grown-up.
