Noodle Run 🍜

A cozy snake-style game online: a cheerful noodle is hungry for strawberries, donuts and cookies. Swipe to steer it around the board and watch it grow with every snack. Pick Chill for wrap-around walls or Classic for a bit more zing!

How to play

1. Pick Chill 🌊 or Classic 🏁 on the chip.
2. Swipe (or use arrows) to steer the noodle.
3. Slurp snacks to grow. Try not to get tangled!

Why we made it this way

Noodle Run is the snake game, made friendlier. We wanted two moods in one: Chill 🌊 lets the noodle wrap through the walls at a steady 6 steps a second, while Classic 🏁 has solid walls and speeds up a little with every snack, from 7 up to 12 steps a second. Your best score is kept separately for each mode.

The most annoying thing in snake games is folding back on yourself after a quick swipe, so we buffer up to 3 turns and ignore a straight reverse. The noodle waits for your first move, and when it does get tangled the run ends kindly: 'Tangled noodle! 🍜'. Movement is drawn smoothly between steps so the noodle glides.

Phones get a 4-button D-pad plus swipe; keyboards use the arrows or WASD. Walls are dashed in Chill and solid in Classic, so the mode isn't shown by colour alone. Chill makes it a gentle snake game for kids, and Classic is a quick worm game for grown-ups on a break.
